The 2018 Spring/ Summer Leisure Guide is available, and registration for programs is currently open. Pick up your Leisure Guide at the Bracebridge Sportsplex, Municipal Office or Chamber of Commerce.
Baseball |
James W. Kerr Park includes one small and one full-sized hardball baseball diamond. Peake Fields at Verena Acres ball diamond facility includes three lit and one unlit diamond, a concession stand, two picnic shelters, a 9-hole disc golf course and playground and washrooms. |
Beach Volleyball |
A beach volleyball court is located at the Bracebridge Sportsplex. The court is available to the public after school hours and is free of charge. There is no sign-up process but users should bring their own volleyball. |
Birding |
Bracebridge is one of the best birding locations in all of Ontario with 284 different species of birds recorded. Located off the Trans Canada Trail in James W. Kerr Park, the Bracebridge Ponds provide a birding season that lasts from mid-May until early to mid November. Visit the Muskoka Field Naturalists for more information. |
Boating, Canoeing and Kayaking |
Bracebridge's lakes and river systems are known for their renowned boating, canoeing and kayaking opportunities. Choose your own experience with recommended canoe or kayaking routes. If you have your own watercraft, find safe public boat launch locations to start your adventure. |
Camping |
Camping is a great way to see the outdoors and truly experience the natural environment that surrounds Muskoka. Bracebridge has a variety of tent and trailer campgrounds for short or longer-term stays, close to attractions and downtown amenities. |
Cross-Country Skiing |
The Bracebridge Resource Management Centre includes 16.5 km of cross-country ski trails that vary in length from 3 to 8 km loops. There is onsite parking, a picnic shelter and outhouses. Dogs are not permitted on the cross-country ski trails. |
Disc Golf |
Disc golf is a game where a frisbee-like disc is thrown into a series of metal baskets placed throughout a rugged park-like setting. The objective is to complete the course using the fewest possible throws. An 18- hole disc golf course is located at Peake Fields at Verena Acres. During the spring and summer months, discs can be purchased from the concession stand. |
Fishing and Ice Fishing |
Throughout the many lakes, rivers and streams of Bracebridge, there are some great fishing hot spots. In the winter months, the bigger lakes are dotted with fishing huts. Golf |
Whether you are a novice or life-long golfer, Bracebridge's beautiful variety of golf courses will offer a challenge with a stunning backdrop of the Canadian Shield. Indoor Climbing Wall |
The Bracebridge Sportsplex has a 32 foot indoor climbing wall with 4 routes on autobelay. Inclusive Climbing Equipment and Dynamic Ropes are available with advanced notice. The wall is open to ages 5 & up. During Open Climb there must be a parent/guardian directly supervising for 5 & 6 year olds. Climbing shoes are available for rent (children's size 3 up to women's size 6.5) for a fee of $2.00(+tax). Monthly memberships available. See the Leisure Guide for the climbing wall schedule. Before climbing, participants will be required to complete both sides of the Climbing Wall Waiver form. |
Pickleball |
Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis and is played indoors or outdoors. There are two free-to-use outdoor pickleball courts at James W. Kerr Park. In the fall, winter and spring, indoor pickleball courts are located at the Bracebridge Sportsplex and in the summer at the Bracebridge Memorial Arena. James W. Kerr Park has Courts 1 & 2 for Pickleball on a first come first serve basis. The Bracebridge Memorial Arena will be hosting a Pickleball tournament called "Court's in Session" on Wednesday May 23, 2018. Shopping |
Downtown Bracebridge boasts a unique blend of retail therapy including clothing stores, gift shops and art galleries with lots of free parking available. The Ball's Flats Retail area and the stores in the Taylor Road/Depot Drive area will service grocery and hardware needs along with national brands and gas stations. Skateboarding |
The Skateboard Park has a bowl, a street course and a wave ledge with a drop on one side. Onsite parking is available. Washrooms are located at the Bracebridge Memorial Arena during facility hours. |
Skating |
Come out and enjoy a recreational skate or game of hockey. Annie Williams Memorial Park Outdoor Skating Rink hosts both recreational skating and hockey. Nets are provided. Parking and portable washrooms are available on site. The Bracebridge Memorial Arena has hockey and skating programs for all skill levels and ages. For more information, visit the Bracebridge Skating Club and South Muskoka Minor Hockey Association. Memorial Park Winter Village is an outdoor recreational skating trail only. On-street parking and portable washrooms are available. |
Snowmobiling |
Experience freedom, excitement and adventure as you ride through the hills and valleys created by the Canadian Shield, rivers, lakes and streams, wilderness and wide open spaces of the Muskoka Snowmobile Region (OFSC District 7). These varied and well-groomed trails are supported by nearby amenities, making it an ideal location for the touring and local snowmobiler. For up-to-date info on what's happening in Bracebridge specifically, the Muskoka Sno-Bombers Snowmobile Club provides information on events, trails conditions and local locations to purchase permits. Explorer's Edge "Ride the Edge" has some suggested routes to see the most spectacular areas of the region. |
Snowshoeing |
The Bracebridge Resource Management Centre includes 1.5 km snowshoe trail. There is onsite parking, a picnic shelter and outhouses. Dogs are permitted on the snowshoe trail. |
Soccer |
Gostick Park has two lit full-size, one unlit full-size and one unlit half-size soccer pitches. There is onsite parking and a fieldhouse with washrooms and changerooms. Visit the Bracebridge Soccer Club for more information. |
Swimming |
Bracebridge offers a variety of aquatic programs, public and lap swims at the Bracebridge Sportsplex. The pool is well-supervised and staff members are highly-trained. Take a swim lesson with one of our friendly and knowledgeable instructors. Our pool is home to the Muskoka Aquatic Club. |
Tennis |
Four lit tennis courts are located at James W. Kerr Park and two lit tennis courts at Kelvin Grove Park. For more information on tennis programs, visit the Bracebridge Tennis Club. |
