ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE Under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001, the Town of Bracebridge has set up an Accessibility Committee with Bob Jones and Edith Nichols serving as Co Chairs. There are six other members on the Committee representing a cross-section of the Town’s residents. These include Patti Thompson, Councillor; Tom Hookings, Chief Building Official; Lisa Shearer, Muskoka Parry Sound Community Mental Health Representative; Robert Fudge, Community Representative; David Morrison, Community Living Representative; Scott Northmore, Community Representative; Nicole Smith, The Friends Representative and Marg Young, Community Representative. Their Mission Statement is: The Town of Bracebridge Accessibility Advisory Committee is dedicated to promoting equal opportunity, independence and access for all persons to participate in all aspects of community life. The Committee has held regular monthly meetings since December 2002, to discuss a variety of topics related to Accessibility. Our duty is to review Plans, advise and make comment and recommendations on Federal and Provincial Legislation and Municipal By-Laws of the Town of Bracebridge in the interest of people with disabilities, in our Community. The Goals and Objectives of the Advisory Committee are to encourage and facilitate accessibility on behalf of all members of our community by:
A requirement of the Act is the publishing of an Accessibility Plan for the Town of Bracebridge each year.
