How to Obtain a Marriage Licence
Couples wishing to be married in Ontario must apply for a marriage licence. The licence is valid for use anywhere in Ontario for a period of three (3) months from the date of issue.
To get a marriage licence, you will need to:
1. Fill out a marriage licence application form, signed and dated by both applicants.
2. Make an appointment with a marriage licence issuer at the Town of Bracebridge. Appointments are available weekdays: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
3. Bring the completed application form with supporting original valid identification and documents on the day of the appointment (see marriage licence requirements link below).
4. Licence fee of $135.00 is payable by Cash or Debit.
Although not required, both parties are encouraged to attend when obtaining a marriage licence. The marriage licence will be issued the same day providing all documentation is complete.
Please note that the Town of Bracebridge issues marriages licences but currently does not perform civil marriage ceremonies.
