How to obtain a Marriage Licence

Please note: Marriage Licences are issued by the Clerk's Branch by appointment only


Any person 18 years of age may marry in Ontario. No person under 16 years of age may marry. Any person who is 16 or 17 years of age may marry with written consent from his/her parents or legal guardians - please contact this office for details. Marriage Licences can only be issued to the applicant or joint applicant.


Both parties must complete and sign the application  - also available at the Municipal Office.  Applicants are required to present two pieces of identification for each applicant. Applicants  must provide a birth certificate and a piece of photo ID, or a valid passport. $130.00 cash or interac only.


The Marriage Licence expires three months from date of issue.

 

Divorced? We require the original or court certified copies of the divorce papers or Certificate of Divorce (issued by Canadian Courts only). Please be advised that a Divorce Order is not acceptable validation of a divorce. Out-of Country Divorce -- please contact this office for details.

 

Appointments are available Weekdays: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
