The five municipalities of Bracebridge, Huntsville, Burk's Falls, Sundridge and Magnetawan are the principle shareholders of Lakeland Holdings Ltd. with the Town of Bracebridge owning 51% of the total shares. Through Lakeland Holdings Ltd., the following subsidiary companies have been created: Lakeland Power Distribution (electricity distribution), Bracebridge Generation (green water power electricity generation) and Lakeland Energy Ltd./Lakeland Network. Approximately 70 percent of Bracebridge electricity comes from hydro generation with the balance of power coming from green generation and power purchased directly from Hydro One. Lakeland Power Distribution is responsible for the electricity distribution to the residents and businesses within Bracebridge's urban boundaries. Lakeland's distributes power at 27.6 kV throughout the community; standard secondary voltages are 120/240-volt single phase, three-wire; 120/208-volt three phase, four wire; and 600/347-volt three phase, four wire. Lakeland Power Distribution is currently upgrading its automation of the distributions network improving reliability for its customers. Lakeland does have a Conservation Program offering programs from the Ontario Power Authority to help consumers maximize their energy conservation. This program changes regularity as there are different offers and coupons available for energy efficient products. Lakeland also helps with performing energy audits and submitting applications for funding for upgrades of motor, systems, lighting, etc. to the Ontario Power Authority.

Lakeland Networks, a division of Lakeland Energy Ltd, is owned by 5 local municipalities; Sundridge, Burk's Falls, Magnetawan, Huntsville and Bracebridge. Garbage and Waste Removal |
Waste management in Bracebridge is handled by The District Municipality of Muskoka. Their facilities include three landfill sites, seven transfer stations and several waste depots and bin sites. There is a ten (10) cubic yard per week commercial limit at all Transfer Stations. Any amounts larger that this will be directed to Beiers Road Landfill in Gravenhurst. Union Gas Limited supplies natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers in Bracebridge as well as provides storage and transportation services Many businesses in Bracebridge use natural gas as their primary source of heat and processing. Water and Sewage |
Water and Sewer infrastructure is managed by the District Municipality of Muskoka (the upper-tier of government). Bracebridge's Water Treatment Plant was commissioned in 1995.
SewageOriginally, seasonal retention lagoons were built in 1959 and were expanded in 1976. In 1983 an extended aeration sewage treatment plant was constructed to increase capacity. Both systems operate in parallel. The headwork treatment plant facilities include automatic bar screen cleaning, grit removal channels, a stabilization pond and extended aeration plant which has tertiary filtration and a chlorine contact chamber.
