More than a destination, Bracebridge is a unique experience in the heart of one of the country's most beautiful recreational areas - there's always something to do in Bracebridge regardless of the season!
Beautiful Downtown Bracebridge has been voted one of the 10 most historic downtowns in Ontario by Ontario Business Report and MoneySense Magazine calls our town one of the top 25 places to live in Canada.
Anchored by the iconic Silver Bridge and Bracebridge Falls, our town has a rich heritage and is home to postcard-worthy architecture. Take a leisurely stroll Downtown and visit the many merchants along picturesque Manitoba Street or try the Historic Walk to learn more about the serene Bracebridge Bay. The historic walk is a 1.3km leisure trail with information plaques to identify 10 different points of interest for those looking to learn a little more.
In the centre of town is the iconic clock tower. Originally designed by David Ewart, the historic structure was the first Dominion Government building to be built in the Muskoka District due to Bracebridge's importance as the central hub for the exportation of woolen and tanned leather products for the area. It has served as an armoury and passed through several private hands before being revitalized in 2015 by Martin Sheffield. The building is now home to several art studios, galleries and boutique shops - capturing the historical, artistic spirit of Bracebridge.
For a unique experience, visit the Woodchester grounds, one of the first and few remaining octagonal houses in Canada. Woodchester Villa is located at 15 King Street.
These locations, among others, have been designated as heritage properties in the municipality and are places to check out if you are interested in history and heritage.
