
Bracebridge has a safe and efficient transportation network for the movement of people and products throughout the municipality.
The Town is immediately adjacent to Highway 11, a provincial 4 lane highway that connects with the 400 series of highways 90 kilometres to the south, and with the Trans-Canada Highway 200 kilometres to the north.

The Active Transportation Plan
|
The Town of Bracebridge's Active Transportation Plan provides guidance for residents to reduce motor vehicle use for short distance travel and become more supportive for walking and cycling as modes of transportation. The plan includes creating a series of short, medium, and long-term projects that use:
- community and municipal assets
- practical ideas and improvements
- create better networks
- improve access, safety and convenience
- engage community support
- design, maintenance, operational, educational and promotional standards / guidelines

Air
|
The Muskoka Airport is located just 5 km south of Bracebridge and features a 6,000 foot paved illuminated runway capable of handling aircraft up to a 737. The terminal has the ability to handle incoming freight, provide aircraft maintenance and fuel. Canada Customs services can be provided with notice.

Bracebridge Transit

Our system provides citizens and visitors of Bracebridge a reliable and courteous transportation system in clean, safe and accessible vehicles, recognizing individual passengers needs and requirements.
We offer an environmentally-conscious way to get around town, affordable rates, a regularly scheduled route, and a conventional and mobility service that travels the urban core of Bracebridge. We service hospitals, schools, shopping centres and major areas of Town.

Bus
|
Ontario Northland provides a daily bus service that connects Bracebridge with communities to the north and south. The municipality is in the process of building a reserve in anticipation of offering a convenient and affordable bus service to residents by 2016.

Whether you shop, dine, do business or work in Bracebridge, finding safe, convenient parking is easy and readily available for your convenience. Most of our parking lots are equipped with accessible spaces. In addition to free on-street parking (3 hour limit), there are a total of 10 town parking lots that offer free parking.

On Street Parking

The Town is pleased to provide you with free on-street parking with a maximum 3 hours time limit. Customers requiring longer parking times are encourage to park in one of our 5 free all day parking lots.

Winter Parking
|
The Town prohibits parking on all municipal streets and parking lots (with the exception of the "Hiram" parking lot) any day from October 16 - April 15 between the hours of 2:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. to facilitate snow removal.
There are a total of 16 designated parking spaces within the Hiram lot that permit overnight parking throughout the year.

Bracebridge is located about 2 hours from two major ports.
Port of Toronto is a large international trading centre on Lake Ontario offering full service container and cargo handling facilities.
Port of Hamilton is a full service port facility on Lake Ontario.

Roads
|
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of all municipal roads in Bracebridge totalling approximately 318 kilometres.
Road Closures
|
Full or partial road / sidewalk closures are sometimes needed because of emergency repairs, planned improvements or community events to undertake a project in a safe and efficient manner.
If you are planning construction or maintenance activity that will affect the flow of traffic (vehicles or pedestrians), contact the Public Works Department at 705-645-5264 prior to commencing so that a traffic control plan may be reviewed and proper permits obtained.
If you are proposing a community event that would require a partial and/or full road closure, please contact the Corporate Services Department at 705-645-5264 well in advance of announcing the event, as such road closures require circulation to various departments for comments and Council approval.
