The By-Law Enforcement branch may be contacted to report a dog running loose or to pick up a dog caught by a member of the public. Dogs picked up for running at large within the municipality are boarded at the Muskoka Branch of the OSPCA located at 1234 Muskoka Road 118 West in Bracebridge. By-Law Enforcement Officers enforce parking throughout the municipality, including fire routes and accessible parking spaces on private property. The By-Law Enforcement branch also issues business licences for refreshment vehicles, dog kennels and temporary vendors. For information related to how by-law enforcement calls for service are triaged please see the council approved By-Law Enforcement Compliance Policy. The policy sets a guideline on how by-law compliance and enforcement services are delivered. This allows for a focus on public education, consistency, fairness, and commitment to service quality. The goal of by-law enforcement is not to penalize residents but, instead, to achieve compliance through education and information. Our Chief By-Law Enforcement Officer has been appointed as the Town's Livestock Investigator under the Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program and serves as a Fence Viewer under the Lines Fences Act.
