Reporting to the Manager of Economic Development or designate, this position is responsible for supporting the Economic Development team with a variety of initiatives and projects geared towards business and tourism attraction. This position is expected to start as soon as possible for an 18-month term.
Following successful completion of the probationary period, this position is eligible for paid sick time, plus paid preventative medical leave.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide a range of administrative support to the Economic Development Branch team, including preparing agendas and minutes, writing memos and reports, providing content for the creation of marketing and promotional materials, coordinating events, and maintaining an events calendar.
- Support the Bracebridge 150 Advisory Committee and assist with the planning and implementation a community celebration event in June 2025 to commemorate the Town’s 150th anniversary.
- Assist with the coordination of Bracebridge 150 Corporate Legacy Projects, including the creation of a new storybook for the Woodchester Storybook Trail and rehabilitated signage for the Heritage Walking Trail.
- Assist with coordination of a variety of ongoing and upcoming economic development projects related to arts and culture, tourism, marketing, physician recruitment, business support, workforce development, Municipal Accommodation Tax, and community events.
Qualifications and Experience:
We are looking for a team player who is enthusiastic, customer service focused, and who has the following:
- As this is a Federally funded Internship position, the candidate must be aged 30 or under, and must have graduated within the last three (3) years with a degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in the field of economic development, marketing, tourism, business, or related field.
- One (1) year or more of related experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, administrative, customer service, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, research, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint. Experience with Canva or other design programs is considered an asset.
- Availability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings or special events as required.
- Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Ability to provide a current and acceptable Criminal Record Check.
