Town of Bracebridge declares a significant weather event

BRACEBRIDGE, ON (November 30, 2024) – The Town of Bracebridge has declared a Significant Weather Event due to the ongoing impacts of the winter storm and continued precipitation in the forecast. Public Works crews are actively monitoring the weather and will continue to perform winter maintenance operations on all roads and sidewalks. Additional time may be required to achieve standard maintenance levels during this time.

The District of Muskoka has also declared a significant weather event effective November 30 which pertains to all District roads.

Winter Weather Safety
As the winter storm continues, it’s important to stay safe.
  • Limit your exposure to extreme cold temperatures and be sure to check on vulnerable members of the community;
  • Stay off the roads and limit outings to essential travel only. If you need to travel, please drive according to the weather and road conditions, and take the necessary precautions to ensure for a safe journey;
  • Clear snow away from blue 9-1-1 civic address signs to ensure emergency services can find your home in the event of an emergency;
  • Ensure outside vents for all fuel-burning appliances are clear of snow and ice. Portable generators should only be used outdoors and carefully located to ensure exhaust fumes do not enter the home;
  • Download and register for the Voyent Alert app to receive location-based notifications to your home phone, mobile device or email, and have your 72-hour emergency kit prepared to support you and your family for at least three days.
