Section of Trans Canada Trail reopens following flood repairs
BRACEBRIDGE, ON (July 24, 2026) – The Town of Bracebridge has reopened a section of the Trans Canada Trail following repairs to damage caused by the spring flooding.
The reopened section extends from Kelvin Grove Park to the base of Bracebridge Falls. Repairs to the trail were supported through a $20,000 Trail Catalyst Fund grant from the Trans Canada Trail. The grant helped offset costs associated with restoring the trail after prolonged high water levels, strong river currents, shoreline erosion, debris accumulation, and saturated ground conditions caused significant damage to the trail and its supporting infrastructure during the spring flood event.
The Trail Catalyst Fund supports projects that enhance the quality, connectivity, and resilience of Canada's national trail network, including disaster relief projects that restore trail sections impacted by natural disasters.
The portion of trail beneath the Silver Bridge remains closed while bridge rehabilitation work continues. Trail users are asked to respect all posted signage and closures.
