Position: Camp Coordinator
Classification: Contract Part-Time from May 1, 2026 – September 4, 2026

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer or designate, the Camp Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising high quality camp programming that is inclusive, stimulating and enjoyable for all camp participants. The Camp Coordinator also supervises Camp Counsellors and Volunteers to ensure the maintenance of a safe and welcoming environment for all participants and the successful delivery of care, supervision and activities to camp participants. This role oversees operational and administrative tasks, facilitates staff training and serves as a mentor and resource for camp counsellors and volunteers throughout the summer.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and oversee high quality, safe and age-appropriate programming for camp participants.
- Supervise and mentor Camp Counsellors and Volunteers, including assisting with program planning, scheduling and evaluating performance.
- Facilitate training sessions for Camp Counsellors and Volunteers.
- Ensure the well-being and physical and emotional safety of camp participants, staff, and volunteers.
- Demonstrate appropriate behavioural management techniques and responds to and positively corrects participant behaviour when needed. Report any issues to parents/guardians.
- Support staff with facilitation of specialized or higher risk activities including but not limited to use of rock wall, low ropes, cooking and aquatic activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
- Experience working with children and youth.
- Previous experience in a recreation operation, an asset.
- HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development.
- HIGH FIVE – Quest 2 certification & HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Aging certification, or willingness to obtain is considered an asset
- Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS 2015.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff. Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, administrative, customer service, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, research, and time management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Ability to provide a current and acceptable vulnerable sector police record check.
- Possess the physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
- A valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s license in good standing with a current acceptable Driver’s Abstract and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
