EXEMPTION TO BURNING CONTROL BY-LAW 2014-018

A Burning Control By-law Exemption has been issued to Parry Sound Friendship Centre as follows:

EVENT:  Muskoka Through Our Eyes Powwow

PERMITTED EXEMPTION: Section 3, Subsection 3.1 (Set or permit a fire during prohibited time/month) of the Burning Control By-law 2014-018, as amended. 

LOCATION: Annie Williams Memorial Park, 50 Santa’s Village Road, Bracebridge

DATE: June 28 to 29, 2025

TIME: June 28, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. until June 29, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.

COMMENTS: The Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief provides the following comments respecting this exemption:

  • In accordance with Subsubsection 3.10.2, permission is granted to set/permit a fire on highway/park/walkway/public land/Town land.

  • The fire pit or burn area shall not exceed be larger than 61 centimetres (2 feet) by 61 centimetres (2 feet) or 0.26 cubic meters (eight cubic feet).

  • An effective extinguishing agent or device of sufficient size and with the capability of extinguishing the fire must be immediately available for use.

  •  Ensure that the fire is attended, controlled and supervised at all times by a competent adult.

  • Ensure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the site.

APPROVAL AUTHORITY: This Burning Control By-law Exemption was issued under delegated authority by Kevin Plested, Director of Emergency Services / Fire Chief and will be revoked if a total fire ban is issued.
