Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Coordinator or designate, the Facility Assistant is responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards of building cleanliness and accessibility, including but not limited to custodial tasks, minor maintenance, and room setups.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Facility Operator to complete rooms setups, minor maintenance, custodial and cleaning assignments, as required.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the building and grounds to ensure high quality standards of the facility.  
  • Provide general custodial duties, cleaning of the facility and facilitate courteous and tactful assistance to the public in accordance with established policies.
  • Ensure that each location is accessible and allows for use of mobility devices.
  • Work in a friendly and courteous manner and communicates effectively with co-workers, supervisors, elected officials, and the public.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous Custodial experience is considered an asset.
  • CPR and Standard First Aid or willingness to become certified.
  • Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WHMIS 2015.
  • HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Child Development and HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Aging certification, or willingness to become certified.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff. Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Ability to provide an acceptable current Criminal Record and Judicial Matters police record check.
