Reporting to the Manager of Revenue/Tax Collector or designate, and supporting the Manager of Accounting/Deputy Treasurer, the incumbent will support accounts receivable and accounts payable for the Town of Bracebridge. Using iCity financial software, the incumbent will be responsible for administration of preauthorized payment plans, month-end processing, accounts receivable and accounts payable administration. The incumbent will perform a full range of finance-related duties and will assist and provide back-up assistance to other staff, as required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Process Accounts Receivable invoices, payments and adjustments, as well as perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Monitor all receivables and communicate with Manager of Revenue/Tax Collector with updates or concerns in relation to specific accounts.
  • Verify General Ledger account coding and enter miscellaneous cash receipts.
  • Process Accounts Payable, including receiving and distributing invoices to departments for approval, entering approved invoices, cancelling stale-dated and incorrect cheques, and re-issuing or reversing payments.
  • Process cheques and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments, prepare cheques to be mailed, match stubs/EFT remittances to invoices and file invoices.
  • Input approved general journal entries.
  • Validate and prepare bank deposits.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-Secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience. Completion of, or willingness to complete, the Municipal Tax Administration Program is required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable. Experience in Municipal property tax is considered an asset.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience using iCity financial software is considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, be detail-oriented and demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff, and to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS 2015.
  • Ability to provide an acceptable current criminal reference check.
  • A valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
