Thinking about running for municipal office? Learn what it takes at upcoming workshop

BRACEBRIDGE, ON (April 10, 2026) – Community members interested in running in the upcoming municipal election are invited to attend a free, interactive workshop designed to provide a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to serve on Council.

Hosted jointly by the seven Muskoka municipalities, the candidate information session will take place on Thursday, April 30 at 6 p.m. in the District of Muskoka Council Chambers at 70 Pine Street, Bracebridge. No registration is required.

This workshop will walk participants through how municipal government operates, what serving on Council really involves, and the realities of campaigning and public life. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, helping them make an informed decision about whether to run.

The workshop will be led by a representative from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, alongside others, who will share their expertise and answer questions.

Whether you’re seriously considering a run or simply curious about the process, this session offers valuable insights into local governance and civic leadership.
