Town of Bracebridge ends significant weather event
UPDATE – (December 30, 2025) The Town of Bracebridge has ended the Significant Weather Event effective Tuesday, December 30 at 4:30 p.m. Public Works crews worked to clear roads and sidewalks as a result of the freezing rain to ensure safe conditions for the community.
Winter road maintenance is completed in accordance with the Ontario Minimum Maintenance Standards for Ontario Highways to ensure Town streets and sidewalks remain safe and passable for motorists and pedestrians.

BRACEBRIDGE, ON (December 28, 2025) – The Town of Bracebridge has declared a Significant Weather Event for all sidewalks and Town roads effective immediately. As the forecasted freezing rain and weather conditions progress, road maintenance may to be impacted. Public Works crews have been servicing roads all day in preparation of the winter weather event and will continue to monitor the situation.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Postpone all non-essential travel;
- Have an emergency kit prepared to support you and your family for a prolonged period of time. This should include batteries, important medications, snacks, water and other lifesaving items;
- Be prepared for potential power outages. Ensure mobile devices are charged, generators are filled and have flashlights ready;
- Download and register for the Voyent Alert app to receive location-based notifications to your home phone, mobile device or email. Several information alerts have been issued today.
The District of Muskoka has also declared a significant weather event for all District roads.

If you see a downed powerline, always assume it is live and deadly. Downed powerlines can electrify the ground around it, so you don’t have to touch the powerline to receive a deadly shock. Stay 10 metres back from the line. Call 9-1-1 and the appropriate power distribution company immediately.
