Today, Mayor Maloney issued his first four decisions under the Strong Mayor Powers granted by the Province of Ontario. These initial decisions focus on delegating specific authorities to Council and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), demonstrating Mayor Maloney’s commitment to collaboration, transparency, and good governance.
Due to Victoria Day on Monday, May 19, several Town facilities will be closed.
This summer, the Town of Bracebridge will engage with property owners to ensure the proper functioning of private on-site sewage disposal systems through the Sewage System Maintenance Inspection Program (Septic Inspection Program).
The Town of Bracebridge will be completing sidewalk improvements on the several streets as part of its annual municipal infrastructure maintenance.
The Town of Bracebridge is recognizing Emergency Preparedness Week from May 4 to 10. The provincial theme this year is “Plan for Every Season” and reflects the unique challenges facing Ontario on a seasonal basis and the opportunities to practice emergency preparedness year-round.
The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has extended the Flood Watch for the Muskoka River Watershed and Black River until Friday, April 25. A flood watch indicates the potential for flooding within specific watercourses and municipalities.
The Town of Bracebridge is reminding residents and visitors that all municipal parks, trails, and cemeteries remain closed for the season and are not maintained during the winter months.
Yesterday, Mayor Maloney proudly presented a cheque for $18,882.16 to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation (SMHF). This donation is the result of the Best Seat in the House/Buy a Bay campaign which helped raise funds to support the development of the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre.
While power has been restored to the majority of properties following the ice storm, a small portion of the community remains affected. The Town of Bracebridge continues to work with agency partners to provide ongoing support.
The Bracebridge Fire Department has been named a 2024 grant recipient by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada®, receiving $25,425 to increase lifesaving capabilities in Bracebridge.
