Permit Exempt: Real Estate signs do not require a permit, but they must follow the specific size and placement rules in the Town of Bracebridge Sign By-law, key provisions of which are summarized below.

For Sale Signs
A real estate sign placed on a property to advertise its sale, lease, or rental.
Regulations:

Location: The sign must be located on the property that is for sale or lease.

Limit: One (1) sign per property (or per unit in the case of condominiums, commercial or industrial properties).

Sign Sizes and Maximum Heights:

Residential Signs: Maximum area 1 sq. m (10.8 sq. ft) per face, Maximum height 1.4m (4'-7")

Seasonal Residential Signs: Maximum area 2 sq. m (21.5 sq. ft) per face, Maximum height 1.6m (5'-3")

Rural Residential Signs (10 acres or less): Maximum area 2 sq. m (21.5 sq. ft) per face, Maximum height 2m (6'-7")

Rural Residential - Large Lot Signs (>10): Maximum area 4 sq. m (43.1 sq. ft) per face, Maximum height 3.4m (11'-2")

Not Official Signs: The placement of a Real Estate Sign must not be of a design that could be confused with an Official Sign, Warning Sign or any other type of sign.

Wayfinding: You are permitted to include wayfinding arrows (with your realtor logo) on the main sign where appropriate.
Open House Signs
Temporary "A-frame" or small 'way finding' stake signs used to direct traffic to an open house event.
Regulations:

Off-Site Permitted: Unlike "For Sale" signs, these are permitted on municipal road allowances to help direct traffic.
- Maximum Sign Size and Height: Maximum area 0.5 sq. m (5.4 sq. ft), Maximum height 0.9 m (3 ft). Maximum height in a sight triangle is 0.3m (1 ft).

Timing: Signs may only be displayed on the day of the open house. They must be removed immediately after the event.

Prohibited Locations:

Centre Medians: You cannot place signs on the centre median of a street.

Sight Triangles: Signs must not block the view of drivers at intersections (the corner area roughly 7.5 m to 15 m back from the intersection, depending on the speed limit).
- Hazards: Signs must not obstruct pedestrian traffic on sidewalks or interfere with official traffic signs.
